The
Rue Obscure is magic place that reveals the medieval atmosphere
of Villefranche.
Located along the first
rampart, the rue Obscure (XIVth century) wasn't covered and formed
the continuity of the parapet walk of the soldiers. It allowed the
soldiers to circulate and made their operations easier. The street
is 130m long. Four doors gave access to the city. Today only the
"Portal Robert" remains.
Later, an irregular urbanization
filled the lake of habitations on the otherside of the street, "rue
du Poilu".
The street is among the listed buildings
since 1932.
